Life is tough, there is so much to learn, and so many hard times. So how do we know that we are making the right decision? Where do we go from here? This is a place, to laugh, cry, vent and just learn about ourselves on this roller-coaster ride called life.

What drives you?
I've been a bit of a lazy bum recently, its the cold weather, it makes me want to hibernate and get fat. I've put on plenty of weight in anticipation of the cold temperatures, but the overindulgence on all things yummy has come to an end :(
Its time to kick back into training and lighten some of the load I've decided to carry around for the past couple of months.
What's kicked me back into hardcore training?
A week with yakers - thats what.
I was truly privileged to have him stay with me last week as he went through his final preparation for his world record attempt.
Basically he is taking one kite, one kiteboard and a hammock to Brazil, and plans to kitesurf solo for 2000km up the coast. Its an incredibly dangerous mission, with a high possibility of things going wrong, from the wind and ocean conditions being treacherous, crime and muggings when inland, drowning, exhaustion and dare I say sharks!
Yet his attention to detail, and preparation for this trip astounded me and inspired me to do something epic in my life.
I'm not saying what yet, but I do plan on attempting to break a world record this year :)
Yakers reminded me how I love new challenges and pushing my body to its limits. I love to train when I have a goal in mind, and now I've set one its time to target some specific muscles, work on my endurance and get my nutrition back on track.
Its back to the high protein, muscle building diet, and some serious weightlifting. The running will continue as I still have a marathon coming up in October, but the upper body strength training will now begin.
I love starting a new challenge, and I'll update you on progress. I'm not as good as Andrew in my logging of weight and miles, but I'll keep a training diary and try to blog about it a bit.
So thanks to Yakers for being my inspiration and reminding me what drives me.
